NYK 103, MIN 95: Melo Surpasses 22K in Knicks Win
Determined to bounce back after Friday night's loss to Brooklyn, the Knicks dominated from start to finish in a 103-95 victory in Minnesota. Robin Lopez matched the Wolves' total scoring output with 16 points in the first quarter, and New York shot over 50 percent from the floor to snap a seven-game losing skid.
Minnesota would cut the lead to six with a 9-0 run early in the third quarter, but the Knicks responded with an 18-4 run of their own to take an 81-61 lead into the final period. Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins scored 24 points apiece, but Carmelo Anthony (30 points, 11 rebounds) logged 40 minues to help secure the win.
Knick of the Night
A night after watching his twin brother score 33 points, Lopez delivered one his best performances of the year: 26 points (on 11-of-14 shooting), 16 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
News and Notes
The Knicks set records for fewest points allowed in both the first (16) and third (13) quarters...Lance Thomas and Arron Afflalo scored 11 points apiece.
Anthony surpassed 22,000 career points tonight. He's currently in 35th on the NBA's all-time list, 193 points behind Clyde Drexler.
Toronto (35-18) makes its first visit to Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
