NYK 85, POR 104: Too Much Blazers Backcourt

March 2, 2016

How it Happened

Carmelo Anthony put forth another solid effort (23 points and 10 rebounds), but Portland's backcourt of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum was simply too much for the Knicks to handle in a 104-85 defeat on Tuesday night. The duo combined to score 55 points to lead Portland to a third straight victory to begin its current six-game road trip.

New York trailed by two after one quarter, but Lillard would heat up quickly, scoring 14 points during a span of less than thee minutes at the end of the second. He'd have 24 by halftime. McCollum took charge from there, with 21 of his 25 points coming in the second half.

Knick of the Night

Anthony asserted himself all night, attacking Portland's defense off the dribble for a number of tough finishes through contact. He shot 10 for 20 in 34 minutes.

News and Notes

Arron Afflalo returned to action after missing Sunday's game with a bruised thigh to score 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting...Kyle O'Quinn came off the bench to give the Knicks a spark, finishing with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
