NYK 80, SAC 88: Lopez Stellar in Knicks Loss

March 22, 2016

After mustering just 12 points and falling behind by 16 in the first quarter, the Knicks responded with an 11-2 run to close the first half. They would cut Sacramento's lead to two in the third quarter, but never managed to get any closer as the Kings pulled away in the fourth.

New York played without Carmelo Anthony (migraine), Lance Thomas(knee) and Kevin Seraphin (sore left foot).

Knick of the Night

Robin Lopez was sensational in his matchup with DeMarcus Cousins. The Knicks' big man finished with 23 points and 20 rebounds, just one point shy of the Kings' All-Star, and blocked two shots in a tremendous all-around effort.

News and Notes

Rookies Kristaps Porzingis and Jerian Grant provided a spark for Kurt Rambis' club, combining for 27 points and some highlight defensive plays despite the loss...Arron Afflalo returned to the starting lineup in Anthony's place, scoring six points on 2-for-8 shooting.

Next Up

Even though they just returned from a six-game road trip, the Knicks hit the road for a Wednesday/Thursday home-and-home with the Bulls.
