LAL 121, NYK 107: Melo Scores 26 But Lakers Even Season Series Behind Williams’ 22

The Young Lakers marched into MSG and jumped on the Knicks from the opening tip. Head coach Luke Walton adjusted his starting lineup by placing rookie Brandon Ingram in the five-man group. Los Angeles built a 29-19 lead after one quarter of action and scored 30-plus points in the second and third periods. The road team’s lead expanded to as much as 27 points while New York could not find the offensive rhythm despite Carmelo Anthony’s productive evening. The man off the pine, Lou Williams led the Lakers with 22 points and Nick Young added 17 in their victory that evened the season series at one apiece.

Knick of the Night:

Anthony finished with a game-high 26 points on an efficient 10-of-17 shooting from the floor.


Kristaps Porzingis posted 16 points and nine boards, Brandon Jennings scored 16, and Willy Hernangomez grabbed 13 boards.

News and Notes:

Rose returned to the lineup after missing four straight games due to a sprained ankle. Joakim Noah was sidelined tonight with a sore left hamstring. The Knicks center did not return to Saturday’s contest after leaving at the half with the hamstring injury.

Statistically Speaking:

Los Angeles dominated inside the box with 64 points in the paint to go along with 27 second chance points.
