Emmanuel Mudiay had 34 points and 8 assists as the short-handed Knicks erased a 21-point deficit and beat the Charlotte Hornets, 126-124, in overtime Friday night.

Mudiay scored 14 points in the fourth quarter, including a fadeaway jumper with 27.2 seconds left that tied the game at 113-113. Charlotte’s Kemba Walker missed a 3-pointer with 8.2 seconds left, and the game went to overtime.

Tim Hardaway Jr. and Luke Kornet each hit deep 3-pointers to open overtime, and Mudiay had three jumpers that widened the gap. Charlotte missed eight of 12 shots down the stretch.

Walker finished with 16 points and 10 assists. The Hornets were hoping to win their fourth straight game.

Charlotte got 21 points each from Nicolas Batum and Cody Zeller, and Marvin Williams added 20.

The Knicks ended a five-game skid. Kevin Knox had 20 points, Noah Vonleh had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Enes Kanter had 15 points.

The Hornets and the Knicks exchanged the lead seven times in the fourth period alone.

The Knicks took a 109-108 lead with 1 minute 41 seconds left in the fourth on a 3-pointer by Kornet, but Batum matched it with a deep 3-pointer of his own, and Jeremy Lamb made a layup to give Charlotte a 113-109 lead.

The Knicks, who listed just 10 active players at the start of the game, started chipping away midway through the fourth and took their first lead at the 4:18 mark when Hardaway hit a 17-foot jumper, making it 104-103. Zeller scored on a 3-point play, and Williams brought down a key rebound and scored on the other end, making it 108-105 with 2:45 left.
