'A whole country': Raptors fans, players go wild after franchise wins first NBA title
The Toronto Raptors are NBA champions for the first time in franchise history.
Soak it up, Canada.
Yes, the Finals were overshadowed by devastating injuries to Golden State Warriors stars Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson. And while the result may have been different had the two stayed healthy, there's little room for what-ifs and hypotheticals in sports.
At the end of the day, the Raptors won. And they — the players, fans and millions in the city of Toronto — celebrated accordingly.
"There's no words, really," a champagne-soaked Raptors guard Danny Green told NBA TV after the win. "Honestly, just the celebration actions, you see everybody so happy. Brought one home, not just for us, but for the 36 million people watching. A whole country. Special, special to be a part of."
